Memory Market, CXMT IPO & DDR5 Tuning — July 20

Memory contract pricing remains firm, CXMT is still moving through its STAR Market IPO process rather than trading in the secondary market, and fresh BIOS work is putting CXMT-based DDR5 in the DIY spotlight. Here is the practical read-through.

1. Storage market: gains persist, but the pace is moderating

TrendForce’s 3 July outlook forecasts Q3 2026 conventional DRAM contract prices up 13%–18% quarter on quarter and NAND Flash contract prices up 10%–15%. These are forecast contract-market movements, not Australian retail SSD or RAM prices.

The firm points to persistent AI-server demand, but also to consumer affordability pressure and client-SSD inventory built during the first half. That is a useful distinction for builders: supply conditions remain tight, yet the next retail move can vary by capacity, controller, NAND type and warranty. Treat an analyst forecast as market context—not a quote for a specific drive or kit.

2. CXMT stock update: IPO priced; no live secondary-market quote

As of 20 July (Sydney), CXMT/ChangXin Memory has completed the 16 July subscription step for its proposed Shanghai STAR Market IPO, but this is not the same as a live, tradeable market quotation. The reported issue price is RMB 8.66 per share; it is an IPO price, not a real-time share price.

Keep the identifiers separate: 688825 is the stock code and offline-subscription code; 787825 is the online subscription code. We did not find an exchange announcement of a first trading date in the materials checked for this update, so no secondary-market price is reported here. 3. PC DIY topic: BIOS tuning lifts CXMT-based DDR5 validation

A high-interest DIY discussion this week is whether newer firmware can unlock more headroom from CXMT-based DDR5. MSI’s 14 July announcement says its Intel 800-series tuning validated DDR5-8600 on a two-DIMM MEG Z890 UNIFY-X configuration and DDR5-8200 on a four-DIMM PRO Z890-S WIFI configuration, each with more than 100% MemTest coverage.

Those are vendor validation results on specified CPUs and modules—not a guaranteed result for every build. Update only from your exact board’s official support page, begin with the kit’s rated profile, and stress-test after any XMP, EXPO or manual change. The useful takeaway is broader compatibility progress, not a universal overclocking promise.
